Graduate/JNR Electrical/Mechatronics/Electromechanical Engineer: Bloemfontein

Our clients have 4 Graduate/Intern engineering positions available in Bloemfontein, they are looking for candidates who graduated in 2023-2024 and have little to no experience.

The positions are combined to the below:

• Mechatronic Engineer
• Electro-Mechanical Engineer
• Electrical (Light Current) Engineer

Candidates are usually appointed on a 12-month fixed-term contract, which may lead to a permanent position after the contract period.

Salary: Market related

Minimum Requirements:

  • BEng/BSc or BTech or National Diploma in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for drafting electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and data analysis.

Key responsibilities:

Electrical System Management & Maintenance

  • Ensure optimal performance and reliability of electrical systems across the plant.
  • Plant Energy Management under Supervision
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, including motors, control systems, and wiring.
  • Programming of Delta PLC, Fusion 360(Fanuc Robotics) and Arduino
  • PFC (power factor correction) design and installation
  • Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.

Project Management & Upgrades

  • Support electrical system projects for plant infrastructure, ensuring timelines and safety standards are met.
  • Assist in electrical upgrades, installations, and system enhancements to improve performance.

Automation & Control Systems:

  • Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and Solar
  • Assist in the design and integration of industrial automation and control systems.
  • Design and maintenance of Automated Guided Vehicles
  • PCB design and program

Team Support & Development

  • Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and assist in generating technical reports.
  • Technical support, design and implementation in all areas required

Safety & Compliance:

  • Electrical and mechanical projects and installations are with industry standards
  • Proactively address electrical safety hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on failures and recommend preventive actions.

Process Improvement & Reporting:  

  • Track and analyze KPIs (e.g., lost time failure rate, downtime).
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance plans and reliability improvement projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Workshop Foreman (Diesel Mechanic): Donnybrook (Southwest of Pietermaritzburg KZN) 

Industry: Transport

The ideal candidate must be highly driven by efficiency, committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, and possess a strong understanding of the business impact of workshop operations. They should demonstrate a proactive approach to ensuring that equipment downtime is minimized, recognizing the critical role the workshop plays in supporting uninterrupted production and delivery processes.

Have a proactive management approach, with an ability to manage and co-ordinate multiple teams within the workshop and field service.

Ability to plan and manage tasks and projects

Ability to work as a team with fleet managers and controllers.
Ability to work long hours and over weekends/standby as and when required.
Ability to problem solve and think outside the box.

Salary:  Negotiable, depending on experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Gr 12 / Matric or equivalent
  • Trade tested Diesel mechanic or equivalent qualification
    Must Have Minimum of 5 years’ experience be working on trucks (Mercedes-Benz Actros)
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Workshop Foreman/Manager  
  • Code 14 Driver’s License with a PDP would be a benefit but only a code 8 required
  • Own Transport
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans (speak, read & write)
  • Must be computer literate at intermediate level
  • Must have experience with truck diagnostic systems
  • Must be willing to work overtime.
  • Must have basic wiring experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Workshop personnel and identify developmental needs.
  • Running of the workshop, including assisting with work in the workshop.
  • Oversee maintenance to the fleet.
  • Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations are adhered to in the workshop.

  • Engine Strip & Assemble
  • Gearbox removal and replacement
  • Braking Systems / Steering / Suspension / Differentials
  • Mechanical Diagnostics
  • Electrical Diagnostics
  • Procurement and management of inventory
  • Must be available via cell to consult on breakdowns and if necessary (very seldom), attend to a breakdown if the attendee cannot fix the problem.
