Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant Short-Term Insurance qualification will be advantageous.
- RE5 qualification
- Class of Business completed (preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years’ underwriting experience within the Short-Term Insurance industry.
- Previous experience with Commercial and Transport Insurance is essential.
- Experience with Goods in Transit (GIT), Fleet, Commercial Vehicle and Liability policies will be advantageous.
- Computer literate (MS Office).
- Excellent communication and client service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Underwrite new and existing commercial and transport insurance policies.
- Assess insurance risks and provide suitable cover recommendations.
- Prepare quotations, policy amendments and renewals.
- Underwrite Goods in Transit (GIT), commercial vehicle, fleet and related transport risks.
- Review policy wording, terms, conditions and endorsements.
- Liaise with brokers, insurers and clients regarding underwriting requirements.
- Negotiate premiums, terms and conditions with insurers.
- Ensure underwriting complies with company and insurer guidelines.
- Assist with policy renewals and retention of existing clients.
- Maintain accurate client records and policy documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers and insurers.
- Provide professional advice on appropriate insurance solutions.
- Assist with claims queries where required.
- Ensure excellent customer service and turnaround times.
