Food Safety Officer: Bloemfontein (Free State)

The Food Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and standards to safeguard the quality and safety of their products.

Salary: R10 000 – R15 000 Gross

Minimum Requirements:

  • Gr 12
  • Valid Driver’s License with own reliable vehicle
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, or food safety.
  • Certification in food safety (e.g. FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, SQF) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards and regulations.
  • Fluently in English and Afrikaans (Read, Speak and Write)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, national, and international regulations.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production facilities to identify and address any potential food safety hazards.
  • Monitor and analyze samples of raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production and quality control teams to address any issues related to food safety and quality.
  • Train employees on proper food safety protocols and procedures to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Investigate any incidents of contamination or other food safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay current on food safety trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve food safety programs.
