- Saturdays: Until 13:00
- No Sunday work (except emergencies if required)
Job Purpose:
The Farm Foreman will be responsible for the daily management of cattle farming operations, with a strong focus on Brahman cattle handling, as well as general farm maintenance and supervision of staff. The successful candidate must be hands-on, practical, and able to work independently while ensuring livestock health, productivity, and farm efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
- B.Agric / Agricultural qualification will be beneficial
- Proven experience working with cattle (essential)
- Experience with beef cattle breeds such as Charolais will be advantageous
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a cattle farming environment
- Mechanical and practical problem-solving skills
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English (speak, read & write)
- Valid driver’s license
Duties & Responsibilities:
Livestock Management
- Handling and management of Brahman and Charolais cattle
- Cattle counting, monitoring, and record-keeping
- Assisting with breeding, calving, and herd health management
- Administering injections, vaccinations, and treatments
- Maintaining livestock reports and records
Farm Operations & Maintenance
- General farm maintenance and repairs
- Basic Welding and fencing (wire stretching and repairs)
- Maintenance and repair of solar pumps and submersible pumps
- Monitoring of livestock cameras
- Equipment maintenance and upkeep
Staff Supervision
- Supervision and management of two farm workers
- Planning daily tasks and monitoring productivity
- Ensuring work standards and farm procedures are followed
General Duties
- Ensuring farm security and livestock safety
- Operational planning
- Maintaining a clean and organised working environment
