Crop production- and Commercial Farming Manager: Tanzania

Key crops are botanicals.

The salary range around $4 000 pm, plus housing, vehicle, medical aid, government pension scheme and bonus.

Visa costs will be covered by employer, as well as some relocation costs.

Desired experience and qualifications:

Will need to learn Swahili as a priority.

An agronomy related qualification will be beneficial.

At least 5 years’ experience managing a large-scale farming activity involving row cropping and conservation farming practices.

A sound knowledge of farming equipment maintenance.

Exposure to irrigation operations.

Experience with precision farming technologies.

Organic farming experience will be beneficial.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Farm budgets.

Crop cycles.

Motivating workforce to achieve company targets.

Manage, develop, lead, coordinate, support/sustain targeted improvements for all crop production programs.

Manage, develop & ensure resources and plans to meet crop production targets.

Develop and implement commercial (mechanized) farming and coordinate planning and purchasing/leasing of land, equipment, and infrastructure.

Ensure staff is qualified and trained and to support their success with engaging at the field level with proper data collection, organization, trial management and reporting.

Implement and manage minimum tillage farming protocols including appropriate mechanization, cover crops and weed control.

Introduction and development of a precision farming model on the company farms.

Oversee both irrigation and equipment maintenance activities on company farms.

Develop KPIs for the company farms and track performance against these KPIs.
